The band's sudden break-up in shocked the industry and saddened the scores of fans, whose appetite for the group's innovative musical stylings never seem to diminish. This insightful film, directed by Michael Rapaport, takes viewers on a behind-the-scenes journey - chronicling the group's rise to fame and revealing the stories behind the tensions which erupted in the years to come.

Weaving together the voices of the members and their peers, traveling backward and forward in time, we get a broad and complicated view of how Tribe became and who they are today. Fandom and family are kind of the driving forces of the narrative Rapaport weaves because he himself is a fan of the group. His genuine tears of concern for a childhood friend make for one of the most compelling scenes of the documentary. Every detail right down to geographical location had an effect on their group dynamic, and thus on their art. Another fun fact about this documentary is that feminism gets a sort of shoutout!

Peaks and valleys, I-Ching, ying and yang; there'll be good times and there'll be not-so good times. And with maturity comes some sense of solace. You face, head-on, whatever differences divide you, squash them and move on.
