Justin David Hayward [2] born 14 October , in Swindon , Wiltshire [3] is an English musician best known as songwriter, lead singer, and guitarist of the rock band The Moody Blues. Hayward became the group's principal lead guitarist and vocalist over the — period, and the most prolific songwriter and composer of several international hit singles for the band. He also had a solo career. At age 17, he signed an eight-year publishing contract [11] as a songwriter with the skiffle artist and record producer Lonnie Donegan , a move Hayward later regretted, as it meant the rights to all his songs written before would always be owned by Donegan's Tyler Music. Bassist John Lodge replaced temporary deputy Rod Clarke, who had stood in for departed bassist Clint Warwick at the same time. After beginning by singing the old blues -inspired repertoire of the Moody Blues' — era, Hayward's initial artistic contribution to the Moody Blues was his song "Fly Me High", which was a Decca single early in Hayward and Lodge's integration into the Moody Blues along with Pinder's use of the Mellotron sparked greater commercial success and recognition for the band, transforming them into one of pop music's biggest-selling acts.

The Moody Blues effectively invented symphonic rock in the late 60s, and constantly evolved their sound over the next couple of decades. However, in addition, Lodge has shown himself to be a shrewd and creative musician as an occasional solo artist. His most recent album, 10, Light Years Ago came out in , and now he's about to go out on his own tour around Britain. I want to take the audience on a musical journey. So I have included Moody Blues tracks which I want to do and also ones that the audience expect to hear.

When December came, so did the news that the group, decades after being eligible, had finally been selected for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I want to thank Justin [Hayward] and John [Lodge] for putting up with me for 50 years. And when it actually became something for all of us to appreciate, I did realize it means the world to me. Their belief in us has just been tremendous. Now we see very young people loving this music as well.
